In the fall of 1997, the Lord began dealing with Pastor
Siegel about a change of direction in ministry and over the course of the next year, much
prayer was made concerning what that change would be. One night in December of 1998, God
spoke very distinctly to Pastor Siegel about pastoring a new church, and during the next
eighteen months even more time was spent in prayer, determining when, where, and how to
begin such a venture.
From these times of prayer, the direction and vision that would shape the foundations of
Good News Family Church began to take form, much like an embryo develops in the mother's
womb and continues to grow until the day it is birthed.
The Siegels moved from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Orchard Park in the Summer of 2000. During their
first week in town, Pastor Siegel saw a moving truck emptying out a local pop and beer
store. The Spirit of God prompted him to investigate and soon plans had been drawn up for
an extensive remodeling project.
On Christmas Eve, 2000 Good News Family Church held its first service with 20 people in
attendance and began a regular Sunday morning schedule the following week. It was a slow
beginning, as it seemed to snow every Sunday morning that first winter (105 inches by
January that year), but the work was underway and has been gaining momentum ever since! |
